What's Up America

Welcome back!

Hello everyone! In today’s blog, I’ll be talking about the best places to visit in America. Although the U.S. isn’t as cool as Europe or anything, there are still a lot of amazing and beautiful places. If you’re curious to learn more then keep on reading!

Ah the Grand Canyon, what a beautiful hunk of rock. For those who don’t know, the Grand Canyon National Park is located in Arizona. It’s 277 river miles long, up to 18 miles wide, and a mile deep. I’ve never been to the Grand Canyon, but really want to go. Many say that it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. So, I’m going to educate you and myself on this landmark. The South Rim is open all year and the North Rim is closed for the winter but will reopen on May 15, 2020. Lodging books up well in advance so be sure to make reservations as far ahead as possible. While you’re visiting be sure to download the official Grand Canyon app to get all the details and information about the things to do and the services provided. However, cell service and Wi-Fi are limited. To enter the park Admission to Grand Canyon National Park is for 7 days and includes both the North Rim and South Rim. The prices for vehicles vary: private vehicles are $35, motorcycles are $30, and entering by foot or the park shuttle bus is $20 per person. The weather varies for each season, so be aware of that. Hopefully, you’ve learned a little bit about the Grand Canyon National Park and plan on visiting soon!

New York: the Big Apple. Manhattan is the heart of New York and is a major commercial, financial, and cultural center. Some iconic sites are skyscrapers such as the Empire State Building, parks such as Central Park, historical landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty, and Broadway theaters. As you can see, there’s a lot that New York has to offer. I’ve been to New York before and let me just tell you, that place is CROWDED...it’s like Chicago on steroids. However, standing and just looking around Times Square is pretty amazing. Another place to check out is the Empire State Building, it’s a 103-story building with a killer view. If you’re not a fan of heights, then visiting Central Park is just for you. While you’re there you can walk around the Central Park Zoo. But we can’t forget about visiting the Statue of Liberty. If Manhattan isn’t your scene you can visit the other 4 boroughs: the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. Make sure you visit this state because there’s plenty to do!

The place where literally every single celebrity lives: Los Angeles. However, I have no room to judge because I live in Dunlap. But in all seriousness, Los Angeles is a beautiful city and is in the top 3 cities to visit in the U.S. It’s the center for its film and TV industry, this is where the iconic Hollywood sign is located. Disneyland is also located here. But, there’s more to LA than just the entertainment industry. The Getty Center is home to European and American art and large gardens. The Griffith Observatory has amazing panoramic skyline views of the city. There are many well-known beaches like Venice, with many shops on a colorful boardwalk, and Santa Monica, a pier that offers rides and games. Beverly Hills is a famous area with a high-end shopping street called Rodeo Drive. Los Angeles is a very unique city and has great weather since it’s located in Southern California.

Las Vegas is an iconic city known for its nightlife, casinos, and other entertainment. The Strip is the main street and heart of Vegas; it’s just over 4 miles long. There are numerous boutiques, designer stores, and other retail areas. There is a diverse amount of restaurants that are run by famous chefs, so finding a place to eat won’t be an issue! For those who are under 21, the experience of Vegas won’t be complete, but there are many shows and lots of sights to see. Vegas has a lot to offer and is definitely a city worth visiting.
